Steve Brooke.
Contemporary landscape artist from Glasgow. Lives locally in Clarkston and is a self-taught oil painter.
His inspiration comes from rural communities and in particular, the "dripps estate" between Thorntonhall and Waterfoot.
His paintings are reductive in style. Emphasis is on reduction of form and composition, characterized by the use of simple shapes and restricted colours.
Steve Brookes inspiration is by Canadian artists and in particular Lawren Harris and the group of seven.
Summer 2022 he was a contestant on Landscape artist of the year on Sky Arts. This was an exceptional experience and opportunity for him.
